Calyx, a seasoned group of chamber musicians, is a dynamic young group making its mark with expressive ensemble playing and brilliant virtuosity. A perennial favorite at the James, Jonathan Bass returns to present masterpieces of 19th and 20th century piano repertoire, including Schubert’s Sonata in C Minor, composed at the end of his life. The Sonata by Samuel Barber, one of the most durable and effective American piano works will also be featured, along with short poetic pieces by Chopin and Rachmaninoff.
